Dispatching orders to all regions of the UK, EU and even rest of the world, necessitates the use of a variety of couriers. Rates and competencies vary across the regions and in order to supply a comprehensive, cost effective service, we make use of a variety of couriers. Courier integration allows us to ship orders through a variety of delivery channels without adding complexity to the process.
Our warehouse management system interfaces with a multitude of couriers and courier management systems to deliver seamless dispatching of orders whilst still allowing the flexibility of choosing a delivery method. A delivery method in our system is effectively a pre-set courier and service level e.g. DPD Local – Next day or Royal Mail – 48 Hours. Following order entry, be it through direct download from e-commerce sites or manually captured, the process of dispatch ends with the choice of courier. In many cases this choice is downloaded with the order, e.g. customer choosing express delivery on a website, but there is also the option of selecting the appropriate delivery method at time of dispatch. This decision can be made by the system or by the dispatch manager. Our system then interfaces with the selected courier, books the parcel and prints the labels for the parcel. At the same time, the tracking details are collected from the courier’s site and saved on our system.
Once dispatched, the dispatch confirmation and tracking details are saved on our system and downloaded to the the various e-commerce sites during the next scheduled synchronisation session. In the case of manual orders, the tracking is sent to the client in a daily report.
